Is GoHighLevel Worth It in 2026? An Honest Agency Review

Is GoHighLevel worth it in 2026? An honest review from an agency that ran on it: what it does well, where the stack broke, and who should still buy it.

Is GoHighLevel Worth It in 2026? An Honest Agency Review

Is GoHighLevel worth it? It is if you are a marketing agency or a local business that needs a CRM, funnels, calendars and automations in one place for $97 to $497 a month. It is less worth it if your offer is AI calling and AI follow-up, because the voice, the notes and the glue around them end up in other tools, and that is where the cost and the breakage live.

I am not writing this as a reviewer who signed up for a trial. I scaled my own AI agency past $50K a month on GoHighLevel, Vapi and n8n, and my agency Executive Stride has built systems for 400+ businesses. GoHighLevel was the center of that for years. I also went on to build a competitor, StrideOps, so weigh my verdict with that in mind. I will be as fair as I can.

What GoHighLevel does genuinely well

It replaced a pile of tools for one price

Before GoHighLevel, a typical agency client meant a CRM, a funnel builder, a form tool, a booking tool, an email tool and a texting tool. GoHighLevel put all of that in one account. For local businesses especially, that alone was worth it.

Sub-accounts and snapshots are built for agencies

The agency model is where GoHighLevel shines. Every client gets a sub-account, and snapshots let you build a setup once (pipelines, funnels, workflows, calendars) and load it into the next client. That is how small agencies onboard clients in days instead of weeks.

White-label and SaaS mode

On Agency Pro you can resell GoHighLevel as your own software, under your brand, and rebill usage. Plenty of agencies have built recurring revenue on that model.

The workflow builder is good

The visual workflow builder is one of GoHighLevel's strongest parts. Triggers, waits, if/else branches, SMS, email, pipeline moves. It is easy to teach a new team member.

The community is huge

If you get stuck, someone has a YouTube video on it. There are communities, snapshot marketplaces and freelancers who know the platform inside out.

Where it broke for my agency

None of the problems I hit were about GoHighLevel being a bad CRM. They were about what happened when my clients started buying AI.

Voice AI lived somewhere else

My clients wanted an AI that answers every call, calls new leads back and books them. When I started, the realistic way to do that was Vapi for the voice agent, glued to GoHighLevel with webhooks and n8n. GoHighLevel now has its own Voice AI, billed per use or through the AI Employee add-on at $50 or $97 a month per sub-account, plus phone charges. That helps, but by then my voice agents, prompts and tools lived in Vapi.

Every handoff was a flow someone had to maintain

A lead fills a form in GoHighLevel. A webhook fires to n8n. n8n tells Vapi to call. Vapi sends the call result back. n8n writes it to a custom field. A workflow reads the field and decides what happens next. Six moving parts for one "call the lead" step. When any one of them changed, leads went cold and nobody noticed until a client asked why bookings dropped.

A second workflow decides what is next

Six moving parts and five handoffs. Any one of them changing is enough for leads to go cold quietly.

The AI on the phone did not know what happened in the texts

Each tool had its own idea of the contact. The voice agent did not know the lead had already texted twice asking about price. The SMS bot did not know the lead had been called that morning. To the lead, it felt like talking to three different companies.

The real bill was the stack, not the plan

GoHighLevel's plan was the smallest number on my monthly costs. Add the voice platform, the notetaker for sales calls, the comment-to-DM tool, cold email, and the automation glue, and the real cost of running AI for clients sat well above the plan price. I break that down line by line in GoHighLevel pricing in 2026.

Who should still buy GoHighLevel

Be honest with yourself about what you are selling.

GoHighLevel is a good fit if:

  • You run a marketing agency selling funnels, ads management and CRM setup to local businesses.
  • You want to resell software under your brand and the SaaS mode economics work for you.
  • Your automations are mostly email and SMS, and AI is a nice extra rather than the product.
  • You rely on the snapshot marketplace and the freelancer community.

Look elsewhere if:

  • Your offer is AI calling, AI receptionists or AI follow-up, and voice is the product.
  • You are already paying for a separate voice platform, notetaker and automation tool on top of GoHighLevel.
  • You want one contact record that every channel (calls, texts, DMs, email, meetings) writes to and every AI reads before it speaks.

What I moved to, and how

I built StrideOps for that second list. It has the CRM, pipelines, workflows, funnels and calendars, with AI voice agents, AI text agents, a notetaker that scores sales calls, Instagram comment-to-DM and cold email on the same data layer. An AI call is just a step in a workflow, and when you turn on shared memory the voice agent knows what the lead said by text.

Shared memory is off by default. Turn on Contact Memory and choose the channels it covers.

Leaving did not mean starting over. The StrideOps browser extension imported my GoHighLevel workflows as drafts, and contacts synced both ways while I ran the two side by side. If you are where I was, read how to export your GoHighLevel workflows first, then see the full switching path.

My verdict

GoHighLevel earned its place. It made running a marketing agency cheaper and simpler for a lot of people, me included. In 2026, it is still worth it for agencies selling marketing.

For agencies and operators selling AI, it is the foundation you build the real product on top of, with other tools. If you are happy maintaining that stack, keep it. If the stack is the thing slowing you down, that is the moment to look at one platform built for AI from the start.

FAQ

Keep your workflows. Add the AI.

Import your GoHighLevel workflows as drafts, sync contacts both ways, and run AI calls and texts as steps in the same workflow.
